Teaching | Preface

I have been teaching Interactive Design courses at the collegiate level for 9 years. Learning is my passion, which is why I love teaching. I get to learn everyday, and enjoy witnessing the spark of understanding in students as they tackle new concepts. My work in the classroom and in the Interactive Design industry compliment one another nicely, as they both tend to push bounds in their own way, feeding each other fresh ideas.

The types of courses I teach varies greatly from fundamental principles to advanced concepts. All of my courses teach Interactive Design holistically and with respect for the craft, placing equal emphasis on design, programming, and process.

Class Bot

In 2001, after becoming frustrated with existing course management software packages on the market, I created Class Bot. Originally, my goal was to build a simple system that would allow me to post course files, news, syllabi, links, receive assignment submissions, and communicate with students to improve the learning experience in my courses. My colleagues became interested in the software I created, and soon it evolved into a multi-course content management system used by the entire Interactive Media Design department at The Art Institute of Atlanta. Class Bot has become a staple in all of our courses, and earned me the Student Success Award in 2003, an award given to faculty at The Art Institute of Atlanta who go above and beyond to improve the student learning experience.
