Interface Painting

In an effort to find common ground between my painting past and my interactive design present, I have been creating a series of interactive art works using sensors (motion, touch, light, magnetic, etc) allowing physical interaction with a computer without the use of a mouse or a keyboard. Interface Painting is a digital painting connected to four light sensors on a plexiglass panel. Viewers can cover the sensors at various distances, blocking light input, to cause the painting to mutate its shapes and colors. A series of ambient audio samples change with the shapes in the painting, creating a sense of a living painting thriving on user interaction.
